Summer of Service, SOS, turned out to be successful again this summer. I'm so grateful for all the parents who join me as we strive to teach our kids to value service. We had some new families join us this year and that made it even more fun. I'm grateful for the Nunnally's, Wood's, Allan's, Holland's, Tandberg's, Hosfelts, Mitchell's, Bedwell's and Dorsett's.
Week #1 we put together education kits for our friend Eva's special needs classroom.
Week #2 we made cards of encouragement for a local rehab facility.
Week #3 we made homeless kits that we can pass out as we are driving around town and see people in need. Sadly, it started to rain and I forgot to get a picture!
Week #4 we decorated cupcakes for our local fire department and then had the pleasure of delivering them and seeing their trucks. We also decorated a cake and made cards for kids at DCH.
Week #5 we had a lemonade/bake sale for Food For Hope.
We made around $190 which pays for one child to have weekend meals for the entire school year.
Week #6, we were out of town by the group handed out popsicles to kids at a park
Week #7 was one of our favorites! We cleaned up York Street and found some interesting, discarded items.
And as a side project, we gathered items for Growing Home. We loaded three vehicles of donations. When we delivered they said it felt like Christmas!
Another awesome Summer of Service.
