I think this is our fourth year of SOS
Summer of Service
I'm so grateful that we've been able to carry on with service projects each summer and for other families who will participate with us. It was a great experience this year. Thanks to the Nunnally's, Dorsett's, Holland's, Thomas's, Layman's, Hosfelt's, Bell's, Scavuzzo's, and our cub scouts.
Week #1: We passed out popsicles at a local park
Week #2: we decorated quilt squares for a quilt that will be donated
Week #3: Lemonade stand for donations for "Growing Home."
We received $120 and a car load of food and toys to be donated.
Week #4: York Street clean up
Week #5: We made bags with food, socks and water for people hanging out on corners
Week #6: Spending our lemonade stand money on items for "Growing Home"
and then we went and delivered all donations.
Week #7: All the kids made cupcakes and then came to decorate them together. We then delivered them to Chic-fil-a (who gave us shakes a few weeks before) the local fire station and our elementary school secretary and librarian.
My goal is not to brag about service, my goal is to help my children learn to serve others. And this post will just be a reminder to them of just how much fun it is to serve!
