Camping with the Thornton's

July 10-12, we decided to go to Colorado Springs, about 1.5 hour drive south, for a camping trip and to see some of the sites the area has to offer.  We dragged the Thornton's with us.  It was a lot of fun.  Our camp ground was just up from Ft. Carson and we had an area all to ourselves.  The kids love camping and really enjoyed having some friends to play with.  They made up some fun games.

On our way down, we explored Garden of the Gods.  It was beautiful.  We did a minimal amount of hiking there, but had fun learning and being together.  The next day we drove, no climbing, up Pikes Peak.  It was a beautiful drive and amazing view from the top.  We were all suffering from oxygen depletion on top, but it was fun.  We drove through Manitou Springs on our way back to the camp ground and spent the rest of the evening hanging out at camp. It was wonderful.

Early Sunday morning, we had to be up and at it because Travis and Cory were sustained and set apart as counselors in our wards new Bishopric with Mark Conover as the Bishop! Such an adventure. Grateful we have the chance to go camping, with friends and see some beautiful areas of our fabulous state of Colorado!

He was called on Thursday night and set apart Sunday, July 12th.  Kathy and Reggie decided to come out and left Saturday morning.  What a wonderful opportunity for Travis and our family to come closer to the Lord and to serve the members of our ward family.
