It has been a wonderful holiday season! Although we did miss my mom, we made the best of Halloween and had a great time.
Halloween of course starts at least a month before! Ethan made sure we had our decorations up the end of September! And, then the first weekend of October, in the rain and mud we made it to the pumpkin patch for the best pumpkins ever!
I don't really like carving pumpkins, so I always give my kids paint to decorate their pumpkins. They always want to carve, but we never quite get to it!!! As you can see, the kids thoroughly enjoyed their pumpkin painting!
I went on my first field trip as a parent with Ethan to Anderson Farms! It was a great day with Ethan and all his kindergarten friends.
Poor Mrs. Weins has all these kids to take care of. She has an am and a pm class. Lots of kids!
We whipped out the 'ol pageant dress and blue eye shadow for my halloween costume this year.
The Hulk
Super Why (PBS show)
The witch
Grandpa Ravsten!!! Oh dear. Travis was the best!
Our family had a great night at our ward trunk or treat.
The beauty pageant queen and her hippy friend
Homecoming Queens of the '90's!
Cameron, Kedzie and Cali...wonderful friends!
I did help with the clean up, promise!
The weekend before halloween we HAVE to go to boo at the zoo. Kedzie made it very clear this year that we were not there to see animals, only to collect candy and that we did! The first stop passed out full sized candy bars! It was fun!
Halloween day was filled with three parties. One at 9am in Ethan's classroom!
The next one at 11:30am in Kedzie's classroom.
Kedzie's 2nd grade class.
And the third was our annual tea party! Kedzie invited Cali who brought her cousin Cami, Bailey and Lindie.
Alex invited Colten and Matthew, without question.
Ethan invited Jackson, Tanner and Camden.
Karen came out for Halloween and the tea party as well. We missed Grandma Mary, but we had a great time. I think the adults missed her more than the kids of course. However, two quick stories. One, when Karen came, Alex got a water bottle filled with water for Grandma Mary. We had to remind him that she wasn't here. Then, as we were going to get Karen at the airport, Ethan was teasing me about who was coming and said Grandma Mary was coming with Karen. I honestly said that she wasn't come and Ethan replied back that she might be coming and she'll be hanging out on the purple couch in our front room. I quickly replied with "you are probably right." Of course she wouldn't miss a good party! Sweet stories from my kids who keep the idea of Grandma Mary alive and well. It's great.
Three besties!
Halloween night consisted of trick or treating from 5:30-8:30pm. We went in our neighborhood and then went to the Busch's for another round. Ethan kept going and going and going. He came home with 8 lbs of candy! Kedzie had 5 lbs and Alex had 4 lbs. I ended up paying Ethan $16 for all of his candy because I knew if I didn't, I have no control at all with the consumption of the 8 lbs. I've bagged Kedzie's and Alex's and I'm trying to figure a way to get rid of it all without throwing it away. No plan yet. But, we had a great Halloween.
The decorations are down and the kids are ready to get Christmas deco's out. I'm hopeful we can hold off for another two weeks, but you never know! We've got to have my birthday first right?! Right! It's going to be a great birthday weekend. I've already been spoiled and my b-day isn't until Friday. Love it! Birthday's are great.
Hope your halloween was as spook-tacular as ours was! Now the question, what are you going to be for halloween next year?! Get on it already!
