Hallelujah for school!

Back to school and we were ready! It was a lovely summer, but I think everyone was ready to get back to some structure. Alex in particular was thrilled as he his now a student at Stem Lab. He was so excited to go to school the first day. I haven't seen him that way since probably third grade. It's been rough since fourth grade due to teachers and covid. But, hopefully we can get him back on track.
Back to school night

"I'm more than excited!"

Teenager spotted in the halls by Mrs. Bradford

My three favorite Stem Lab students!

And, Alex was the superstar his first week in engineering!

This girl has decided to jump from a kindergartener to a Senior in a number of minutes er roughly 13 years! How it went so quickly, I'll never understand. She is amazing and smart and kind and loving. We can't wait to see what the future has in store. However, at the moment, we have her teacher cadet course, weight lifting and her core classes. She's going to have a wonderful year. It is different without her really close friend, but she is brave and a tower of strength. She's already made a number of new friends and it's only been five days.
Senior sunrise wasn't worth it however! Where's the sun?

My adorable tenth grader

And popular eight grader at Rocky Top
Proud of my kids and all they do every single day.

We did have to make special plans for the group photo of 8th graders at the beginning of the school year! Excited to see how much they grow physically and emotionally over the next nine months.
Buddies: Alex, Matthew, Triston and Brennar

We all had polka dot shirts and we all wore them on day so we had to get a group photo!!!

Cute Jacob and Kennedy are married!

Alex played his first ECNL scrimmage again MLS Next. Believe it or not, although MLS won the game, ECNL is only a step behind them. It was exciting to watch. It's going to be an awesome experience.

Triston and Alex went to watch Alex play in a tournament Saturday before reffing. They clearly were intensely watching the game. Silly boys. But, they each had four games to ref that day. Proud of them.

Alex playing with his new team. They lost two vs Real which is painful, but they'll get through it. ECNL did beat North which was great for Alex. They fought hard tho and it could have gone either way until ECNL wore them out due to no subs.
Three North players now on ECNL: Wyatt, Alex and Cris

Little lunch break

Second place...Coach Diego said he didn't care about the results of the tournament, he only cares about growing great young men and great soccer players. What a statement by a coach! There's a lot of talent amongst these boys that will shine through in the next nine months.

And of course after playing soccer all day Saturday, they went to watch soccer that night!

Big news for Ravi. He has retired from Horizon/Rapids soccer and has found a new sport. Water Polo! One of his favorite teachers from Rocky Top is the sponsor; Mr. Cramer. It's a school district club, and he practices twice a week with a match on Saturdays. It's amazing that he can tread water for 1.5 hours of practice and was excited when he scored during practice.  I'm so impressed and amazed that he can pick up two new sports in one year and be great at them and be willing to try something new and make new friends; not knowing anyone on the teams. Excited to learn about a new sport and watch him learn and grow!
