Life is mostly good with some hard stuff in the middle

How pleasanty surprised we were when Ethan was named Student of the Month from his Language Arts teacher, the first month of 7th grade. We know he is amazing. She knows he's amazing. Now if he'll figure it out, he'll be set for life! We were so proud of him and happy to go and celebrate this honor before school a few weeks ago. Way to go Ravi!

Just in case you can't read the certificate, and want to know how awesome Ethan is...here's what Ms. Escobar said about him. Makes me so happy!

"Most importantly, Ravi is kind. It's this quiet, but obvious quality that was the first thing I noticed about him. He shows kindness and grace to everyone I see him encounter. Ravi also knows the value of school and he brings a positive, excited, and open minded attitude to everything in language arts. I don't think he realizes how much positivity he truly adds to our class community. Speaking of language arts, Ravi has a talent for this subject. He will disagree with this because he is also humble; but its true and I'm putting it in writing for all the world to know. Though I've only known Ravi a short time, I know that he is someone we are all lucky to have around, and getting to be his teacher this year makes me feel like a millionaire."

On a more tender note, we lost two friends in the same week to freak accidents. How humbling to lose people you know and have played some part in our lives.
Craig and Sheri were in our ward for years. Such a wonderful couple. Craig was a hard nut to crack, but about three years ago, he finally decided I was funny and we could joke around with each other. It was fun. They moved to Utah two years ago to be closer to family. He was tragically hit by a semi truck while riding his bike and died three days later from all the injuries. It's so hard to say good bye to those we love.

Aiden, in the white shirt, was a teammate of Alex's when he played for Broomfield two years ago. We just saw him and his family in Boulder in August at a tournament. He tragically passed away in an ATV accident. This one was super hard for me emotionally, because my boys are the same age as Aiden. What a tragedy. I feel for the parents and the other children that were involved in the accident. It's still hard to wrap my brain around. The day I found out about Aiden's death, I broke my boys out of school and cried to them...they thought I was crazy....but I needed them to know how much I love them. After wiping the tears and blowing my nose, we went to get ice cream! I love my kids so much.
I pray that my mom and our Milo welcomed Aiden with open arms and are loving him until it's time for the rest of his family to join him.

On a much lighter note, the super fantastic Young Women volleyball team! Coseth's first time ever playing. I told you she'd try anything!

Love these girls!

Alex's soccer team at DEFY!
As their team manager, I'm trying to do some monthly team building. First was to play together. This next month we will do a bit of service. They are amazing, talented young men who have a lot to offer at such young ages. Love them.

Introducing Coseth to Halloween! New for her as well.

Happy 4th birthday to our puppy Wiley! He loved the BBQ Pork cake!
Mom is Wiley's favorite human. He loves to nap. He loves to play and growl at the boys. He loves his treats and has to have his greenie first thing every morning or he jumps on you continuously. He loves  car rides and going to Utah. He dislikes other dogs and the vet. He is our favorite puppy ever!

And finally, Alex is $100 richer as he went one year without soda. He celebrated the day by drinking a lot of soda and driving to Utah for conference. But, what a cool thing to do. Proud of him.
