"New York, New York...it's a helluva town!"

I went to New York City this past weekend with my favorite girls from college. I had no idea what fun a girls trip could be, as this was my first experience since I've been married with children.  It was...perfection...uplifting...fun...good for me.  It was amazing.  I'm so grateful that I was able to go and have such a great time.

 I met Christa Crompton Smith, Camille DuPaix Smith, Angie Myers Santini, Mindy Myers Gardner and Melissa Jensen in Newport, New Jersey and we laughed, ate and walked our way through Manhattan. We went to the today show and got our two seconds of fame.  We walked through times square early in the morning. We saw the 9-11 memorial and felt the power of violence and freedom. We spied the Statue of Liberty, ate at wonderful locations thanks to Mindy and Camille, saw the LDS Temple, walked through half of Central Park, got lost on the subway, bought some Michael Kohrs in China Town, ate Chinese food in China Town, went to Carlos Bakery in Jersey, saw the friends fountain, saw the city from the Top of the Rock and saw the Broadway play "On the Town." They even lit up the Empire State Building for the Denver Broncos...it couldn't be for the Mets! We did everything we wanted to do and more. It was full and wonderful.

I'm so grateful to have known these women for the last twenty years and to be able to be with them and feel like we'd never been apart.  It was wonderful.  I really can't describe in words, my emotions about the whole four days.  I'm simply filled with gratitude for the opportunity I had to go.

PS...we are planning another trip someday to sunny California! I'm so lucky!
