Vickie Romer Anderson

My sweet Aunt Vickie died on Oct 28th.  She called me the week before to let me know that she had a terminal disease.  It took me by surprise.  However, she'd been pretty sick for the last month or two and was in a rehab facility trying to get her strength back.  But she was in a tremendous amount of pain and it was time for her to be done with her earthly mission.

I think when I found out she was dying, I was hit hardest by the fact that she would, indeed, be seeing my mom first!  I was a bit jealous in the moment.  And then I realized what a joyous reunion it would be for both of them and it made me happy.  They are skinny and running around all over the place.  Teaching everyone all they know and being such a joyful team together.  What a wonderful reunion.

Vickie was there for me anytime I needed her with my mom's illness and death.  She was always going to be my mom if my mom passed when I was little, so she kept up her promise and was there anytime I called.  She was so optimistic and happy.  She always had a smile on her face.  Every time we got off the phone, she'd tell me to give my cute husband a kiss and to tell my kids she loved them. And it was true, she did love them.  And she loved me and Travis.  It has been a blessing to have her in my life.  She will be truly missed by me.

Vickie Anderson Obituary
Our remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Vickie Romer Anderson, was called home on the morning of October 28th, 2014. She passed away peacefully in her sleep. Vickie was born on June 2nd, 1951, in Tremonton, Utah, to Merlin J. and Margrette Romer. She grew up on a farm in Elwood, Utah and met her eternal companion, Garth, while still attending Bear River High School. She graduated from Holy Cross School of Nursing in 1972 and has lived a life of service both in and out of the nursing field. Vickie has achieved many accomplishments in her 63 years of life here on earth. While she was successful as an infection control nurse for Intermountain Healthcare, she counted her greatest accomplishments to be the relationships she built amongst family and friends. She made it a point to build a positive relationship with everyone she interacted with every day of her life. This was one of her most evident gifts.
She had a deep love for the Savior, Jesus Christ. Her service to, and faith in, the Lord was evident in her daily interactions with others. She enjoyed more than 14 years at rough camp, service within the relief society, youth programs, charity events, and most recently working with the young single adults within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She has touched and influenced many through her simple gift of charity towards everyone.
Vickie is survived by her husband, Garth; three children, Amy (Blake) Wagner, Jeff (Emily) Anderson, and Tamie (Nate) Bateman; five grandchildren; Molly, McCord, Marin, Cameron, and Callie; her sisters: Lola (Tip) Ravsten, Linda (Buck) Condor, Merle Romer, and Iva Owen. Proceeded in death by her sister Mary Ann Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am at the Crescent 3rd Ward building, 949 E 10600 S, November 1, 2014. Vickie's viewing will be held on October 31, 2014 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT 84092 from 5 to 7 pm. We recognize this is during Halloween, but for those of you who truly know Vickie, understand how fitting this is. Children are invited to wear appropriate Halloween attire. A viewing will also take place between 9:00 and 10:30 am prior to services. In lieu of flowers donations are encouraged to be given to the LDS Church Missionary Fund or the Utah Autism Academy.

Here are some pictures that people have posted on Facebook in the last few days of Vickie.  She was amazing and loved so many people.  As a side note, one day she said that she needed too poop and then she could leave the hospital.  So, as crazy as we are, we made a "P" poster to encourage her to poop and texted it to her.  She loved it and laughed and laughed.  She has such a great personality.  She'll be missed.
