So, how is it that my little 6lb. 6oz. baby girl is now 4 1/2 and starting pre-school? Where does time go? Why does it go so quickly? I ask myself those questions regularly these days. Then, I realize how happy I am that she is growing and learning, learning and growing and experiencing life. It's awesome. Kedzie started pre-school last week and is loving it. She's only remembered one friends name, but she clearly remembers her teacher, Mrs. McDonald. She loves playing outside and on her first day of school, she brought the snack. She was very happy about that. It's an exciting time in her life and ours; to watch her change and grow.
She also started playing soccer on Saturday. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate so well. We got dumped on! The only day in months that it has rained like that and we were outside trying to play soccer!

The only day in months that it has rained like that and we were outside trying to play soccer! As a proud mother, I smiled as she played tag with the coach rather than finding the ball to score a point! Go Kedzie! This too will be a fun learning and growing experience for her.
Alex was the perfect baby until three months old when he decided that he needed to eat more frequently at night. Over the last month, he's been waking up 2-3-4-5 (get the picture) times a night and two nights ago when he was up every hour except for 2am, it was determined that he would be "banished" to the basement to cry it out. Now, we did this with Ethan and it seemed to work, so we're giving it another try.
Just so there are no calls to social services, the basement has no mice, rats, or standing water...our parents sleep there when they come to visit! He's safe in a pack-n-play and he's been down there for two nights now. First night, he woke up at 10, 11, 12 and cried for about 15 minutes each. I remained in my bed, mentally telling myself that the spirit would prompt me if he was in danger, and slept through most of the sadness. Last night, my sweet angel slept from 8:30pm to 7:30am when Travis had to wake him up to eat! What?! Did it really only take one night? Will he now be able to sleep through the night most nights? We dare not bring him up to his room for a few more days and then we head to California on Friday. So, I'm sure he'll spend some more time down there. But, I got a full nights sleep last night, first in over six months I'd bet. And, all my children slept through the night without a peep! Wow! Dreamy.
He really is growing up too. His speech is coming along wonderfully! He loves having Stephanie come each week and work with him. He says everything now. It's awesome. Now if we can just get him to speak so that every one else can understand him!
Ethan had the hardest time sending Kedzie to pre-school. Even though she goes during nap time. He wanted to stay with her and cried all the way home and attempted to have a nap in her bed!
He also is ready to play soccer with the big kids and do anything and everything Kedzie does. We are proud that we recently purchased a fireman and spiderman costume, so he no longer has to dress as a princess! See, growing and learning, learning and growing. We're all doing it.
Friday we head to California. Four days in San Diego and then four days at Disneyland. Can't wait. I'm not sure if Travis or the kids are more excited about this one. Of course, my mom is going with us. It's going to be a great vacation for us all. We're not ready physically, but mentally we're all ready to go!

Oh they really are growing up! That Kedzie is gorgeous. I am SO HAPPY for your night sleep. I am not sure I am ready to take on those sleepless nights again - all three of mine took about a year before it was all night...I need a basement! ...OR maybe I'll have an angel baby this time! Ethen is a doll! Can't wait to see you in November!
Darn Las Vegas for not having basements...they solve so many "kid" issues!
Stop by and say hi on your way if you have time! I'd love to see your mom!
I guess the basement story is the hit for this entry. I love it! Getting a full night sleep is so my style. I don't need a basement, ear plugs work for me. The funny part is that it only takes a night (or maybe two.) I also love the way Kedzie tips her head for pictures. Didn't you do that? or maybe it was me? or someone else? Maybe all of us did? Cute kids!
