Basketball and Quarantines

Basketball is back. Initially, not in Colorado so we drove to Cheyenne for a tournament where we got killed, but once we were back in Colorado last weekend, the boys won the entire thing! Grateful for Perry and Danny and their willingness to coach these sixth grade boys! 

The Ravsten kids were having a stake out that lasted about an hour. Whoever stayed on longest was getting $50 from Alex, but when Kedzie and Ethan ditched at five and ten minutes, all bets were off. But, it made me happy that Alex wanted to be with his siblings and he made it happen!

Ethan got into the SOAR program at Horizon! Super proud of and excitedly nervous for him to start high school in the fall! How'd that happen?! 

We visited the farm last weekend and said hello to Lucky who's still friendly to humans but hangs out with the chickens. She didn't follow us everywhere, but she let us pet her and was friendly. Love her still. So weird to say that I love a duck, but I do! 

Lucky Kedzie was the first of three of our kids to be quarantined. Sadly, her's was at swim which is ridiculous because they were in the pool with two swimmers per lane. Initially she was out for ten days, but they're making athletes quarantine for fourteen days. So she missed her first two days of inperson school last week and all of swimming for the last two weeks. She can start up again on Tuesday. She has no symptoms and she is allowed to go to work, but not school or swim. I hate covid. It's done it's number on me emotionally this week. I think I'm through the current anger stage and moved onto acceptance for now. We'll see how long it lasts! 

We did take the boys to DEFY a few weeks ago for the best two hours of their lives!!! They love being together and jumping. It's so awesome for them and Erin and I had a good time catching up. 

Jan 20th a minority, female was inaugurated at VP of our Nation. Super proud of this momentous occasion and grateful Trump is gone from the presidency.  The next best part of the inauguration, that I watched for the first time ever in entirety, was the spoken poem by Amanda Gorman. Man it was power. Proud of these women. Grateful for their examples of strength and courage. 

This one Wednesday, Owen's mom took the boys to Loveland to ski. No inperson learning that day, so Ethan completed work afterwards. I got a text on their way home that their gear was on I70! Something happened to the gear holder on top of her car and the skis and board hit a jeep, no one injured and then Daniel and Ethan's gear got ran over multiple times! We had to go to Christy's and admit the accident. They were awesome and gave us 40% off their initial cost so it was less than $500 to pay for both. Jen ended up paying for everything which was super kind of her. No one was injured and they have an amazing story for years and year to come. 

Warming up for the tournament in Colorado. I mentioned this one in my previous post. They went in and barely lost their first game and then crushed the next two. They won in the end! Proud of their efforts and their no quit attitudes. Alex and Cris missed this tournament because they were playing with 21 other top rapids players at a kick around in Castle Rock. We think, maybe, they've narrowed down the 09 elite team to 23 boys with two goalies. No matter what, they had a great day too. 

We watch the basketball games on facebook live. Grateful for technology so we can see the boys play. Triston had an amazing tournament. He is a great player. So proud of him.

Church shenanigans. Matthew came because they were teaching sacrament routes to the new deacons so he stayed with us. Proud of all these boys. Ethan helped as a teacher to set up the sacrament table. His ordination by his dad was special too. 

Ethan we bless you that you will recognize your Heavenly Father in your life. Bless that you will feel his love for you and for his children. Bless you to understand that your Heavenly Father has a great work for you to do in the priesthood. As you make these steps, you are helping Heavenly Father bless his children. As you turn and seek for Heavenly Father, you will feel him and find him in your life. In real ways, he'll lift and guide you and help you through difficult and good times in life. Bless you with kindness in life. Be a light and example. Be Heavenly Fathers help on earth in whatever he needs and bless you that you’ll be ready. Bless you with an understanding heart that you will feel him. Bless that you can share that love with others. Bless that you can have an increase in faith and desire to be diligent in the gospel.

I'm officially vaccinated for Covid for the moment! I was achy for about a day afterwards, but I'm grateful for the chance to have the shot and hopeful that this will help so many people, if we can simply get it distributed. That's the hard part right now. Grateful for my job that allows me this privilege.
