I know it's the end of February already as I'm writing. We've celebrated a new year, two birthdays, medication adjustments, swim team, Disneyland, Phoenix, school, basketball, friends, indoor soccer and snowboarding. All in a month and a half. We continue to have struggles and days are long and challenging, but as I look back, I realize just how blessed we are to live in this day and age and to be a family. I'm grateful for Travis and my children every day and miss my mom almost daily as well, but we are doing well.
Here's proof that January was fun and full!
The boys participated in the winter edition of XR camp. I am grateful for our soccer community. A place where my boys can go and be themselves. Where they can exercise and learn to be a team player and commit to something hard. Pictres are of Triston working out with KO...tough stuff. Ravi and Noah refuling after a long day of training. Alex with his Spain coach who came out to help with XR camp and finally all the kids at camp. Such a great experience for the boys physically and socially.
Travis took the girls during winter break to the zoo. It was Coseth's first time seeing an Elephant. They had a wonderful day together seeing all the animals up and about.
About me you ask....
We took an afternoon and went to the Colorado History Museum over break as well. My kids love playing in the settlers village and then its funt explore all things Colorado and show Coseth.
Anne took the quadruplets frisbee golfing! Grateful for her and grateful that these boys are friends and yes they're all in shorts in Colorado in January in probably 45 degree weather.
Coseth made us some delicious dessert from Ecuador that I can't remember the name of, but it was good.
Swim meets are really long and hot and these three supported Kedzie at one this season. Her first high school swim team experience and it was amazing. She is a pro at the butterfly and needs to work on being quicker in her 50 free. She made friends and learned to work really hard as she trained two hours every day. More exercise than she's ever done before and she was awesome. Grateful for her friend Brooke who is by her side always encouraging her to keep swimming! Silly girls.
The boys had a crazy basketball season. It was really tough and they didn't quit. They endured some challenging teams and experiences. They did two one day tournaments and took 1st in one and 2nd in the other. The season wasn't like that. Lots of losing by 20-40 points but seriously, they didn't ever quit!
I love Colorado
This team is the jackalopes. We are rivals cuz we play similarly. Last season we were in silver bracket with them. This season they moved us both to gold and it was a huge difference. When we played the jackalopes, we always went back and forth in winning. This particular game was magical. It was played at Metro State on a Saturday afternoon and our boys went out and smoked them by 40 points! It was insane. I have no idea what happened. We just played them again and they beat us in the last two minutes, twice in a row, so that was disappointing, but this game I will always remember because it was beautiful and in a college setting. Go Hawks.
Monet exhibit came to town. Felt the need to expose my kids to some beautiful art, so we went. It was a cultural experience. Check mark. Done and done. Travis and Triston found a fun hallway of mirrors at the museum while the rest of us waited for them.
Just a note to remember that my kids are obsesed with Naruto. I can't stand anime, but they love it. Weirdos for sure.
Members of the Thornton Ski Club! Ravi was fortunate enough to be involved with Dave Layman hauling roughly six boys every Saturday up to Loveland to ski and snowboard. He's amazing and has made Ravi's winter one for the books. He's become an accomplsihed snowboarder, self reported and rips it up on black and double blacks. Grateful for Dave and his time and patience to take these boys.
Some random shots for you. Alex playing with filters on my phone. Kedzie celebrating Amber with lunch and Crumble Cookies. Ethan attempting to read the Book of Mormon with me! My first lego that I've ever put together...Friends...forever. It was a therapeutic activity, because I had just learned one of my best friends was diagnosed with breast cancer. It is the best case scenario, but it is life altering and effects so many. Prayers for Amy continue.
The boys participated in a six hour futsal tournament at Regis University. We did make it in the winners bracket, but it was pretty tough because we don't play futsal together on a regular basis. It was a fun, long afternoon however. Love all these boys and their passion for soccer.
This dude turns 12 in November, so that means he is now considered a Deacon in church. He received the Priesthood and now passes the sacrament on Sundays to our congregation. Isn't he so handsome? I love him. He is smart and committed and genuine and kind. So proud of the decisions he makes to try to be good and make good choices. He's amazing. So grateful to have him in my life.
A moment in time when they are happy and getting along.
A new rec center opened two miles from our house. We love it. I can exercise there regularly and cheaplyl and the kids can swim and play basketball whenever. It's so awesome. We've been there quite a bit lately. Grateful it's so close.
Fifth grade tradition...Ameritowne! The boys loved their day. Judge Alex and Banker Triston along with Mayor Matthew and Brennar was in there somewhere! They had a blast. So much fun to learn and use your imagination at the same time. They're still little boys. Funny story, Alex had to talk to text the towns rules. Instead of "When you go past the snack shop say give me nibbles," it texted "nipples!" It made a lot of people laugh and Alex was able to fix the electronic mistake.
Kedzie had her annual back appointment and continues to be a rock star! Her back looks great and she's well over 5'7". She's depressed she's not 5'8"! Silly girl. Love her and the crazy shorts she gets to wear for X-rays!
The boys were selected to be ball boys at a home University of Colorado game and loved it. They gave water to the referee's and swept the floors and all for a t-shirt. CU won which was fun too. Having cheerleaders and foul mouthed students all around you was an experience they'll never forget, but maybe should?!
Kedzie loves her puppy
Alex and I were experiencing severe snow fever and just had to escape town and skip school. It was just what the doctor ordered. A beautfiul day at Araphoe Basin with my boy who loves skiing. My knees were mad at me around noon and Alex lasted another hour or two. We had a fabulous time together. With soccer, and being a parent of four, plus the drive time, we don't have much time to get up to the mountains and ski. It was a special day.
