Our sweet and loving Bert passed away June 15, 2015. For about a month or so previous, he wasn't acting himself. He had lost a lot of weight, wasn't eating much and wasn't able to care for himself well. It started with a cold. When we returned from Utah, we found him having a type of seizure. We went to the vet the next day and they hadn't a clue what was wrong with him. So, we had to leave him there and the vet called the next day to say he'd passed. It was one of the most difficult decisions I had to make. We were all able to say our goodbyes and we know that he's out of pain. We are grateful that we didn't make him live through all those horrible seizures. He was a great cat, minus the pooping in the tub and peeing on Alex's bed on occasion. He got in trouble for that. We love him and we miss him tremendously. However, we will not be getting a new cat. The saddest statement made throughout this process came from Ethan. "I have four holes in my heart. One from Bert, one from Whitey, one from grandpa and one from grandma." It's too bad that an 8 year old has had so much significant loss in his short life. Bert was "his" cat and he misses him a great deal. As do the rest of us. Thanks for the love Bert! Say hi to Whitey!
