BEE Award at SAN

On January 18th, Case Management was asked to go downstairs for a meeting and wouldn't you know, I was awarded the BEE Award for the quarter! It's awarded to none nurses by nurses who nominate them. Mariah, one of the charges on 3N nominated me. She is one of the first people on the floor that I met. She's always been so kind to me and this was just a bonus. I got a fun basket full of treats and a bonus check.

My photo is hanging up near the cafeteria on the main floor of the hospital

Here's what the nomination said:
Emily is not only an amazing social worker, but she is also an awesome co-worker!

I was recently unable to attend MD rounds one morning when the unit was super busy. Emily called to check on me and when she realized I would not be able to attend, she took it upon herself to send all of the nurses and myself updates from the doctors on all of their patients (what I usually do if I am at rounds). This was above and beyond anything that was expected! She went out of her way to help out the team ! It made a huge difference to the day. I felt very supported by Emily that day and always.

This is just one instance of Emily's kindness and willingness to jump in and help her team. She is a huge resource to 3N and I am very happy to get to work her her!

I love my job. I love my co-workers. I love 3N. I love being able to help patients. I love being challenged. I love learning new things. This job brings me joy and is fulfilling. I often think of my mom and how she is probably giggling because I work in a hospital! I actually volunteered at McKay Dee on a transitional care unit which is similar to what I do now, when I was younger. Pretty ironic. And Carol Godfrey was a cards case manager and here I am doing the same thing. It makes me happy to be like them these days, as they are missed and the job making me think of them on occasion.
