January 20, 1946...oops 2019

I woke up on Jan 20, 2019 and remembered it was my mom's birthday. She would have been 73 years old. I think I'd been a little emotional about it the whole week previous, yet not realizing it.
Anyway, when I told the kids it was her birthday, I was tearful as I told them that they were her greatest treasure and favorite thing...next to me...in the entire world. I was so excited when I realized that Kedzie would be receiving her Young Womanhood Recognition Award in church. It was just too good to be true.
Ethan also had his Bishops interview to receive the Priesthood and become a Deacon. He has been trying to decide if he believes in God and Jesus Christ, so we weren't sure if he would choose to be ordained or not. But, he was so excited for the interview and got dressed in his new suit and was ready to go to church. We told him before going that he simply needed to tell the Bishop the truth.
Apparently, he did tell the truth and he came out with a big smile on his face. Later that day the Bishop told Travis that of all the Deacon interviews, Ethan's was by far the most spiritual. If only I were a fly in the room. I'm so grateful for his choice to receive the Priesthood. He's been so happy since making that decision.
During Sacrament Meeting, they sustained him to become a Deacon and I had the thought occur to me that if the Bishop was available, Ethan could receive the Priesthood on my mom's birthday.
What tender mercies.
At 2pm, the Bishop came over and Travis ordained Ethan with the Priesthood and a Deacon in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
What a happy day. My two oldest children committing to continue to work towards obtaining a strong testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
What a blessing that all of this occurred on my amazing mother's birthday. Cannot be a coincidence. She had a hand in all of this.

After Ethan was ordained the Priesthood and became a Deacon, he received a blessing. I took some notes so he could remember what was said.
Ethan, you were blessed to have an increased desire to choose the right and to follow Heavenly Father. You were blessed to be able to see the Lords hand in your life and recognize His hand as he guides you throughout your life. You were given a blessing that as you have been given the priesthood, you will increase your appreciation of the power of God. With the priesthood, you will be able to provide people the necessary ordinances and covenants that will help others become clean. You were blessed to see the power of the sacrament in your life and in the lives of others. Finally, you were told that your Heavenly Father loves you, He is aware of you and He sees your potential.
